Songs
Below are the lyrics to songs I have written over the years. I haven't written a song in a rather long time as I moved on to the other forms. But this is where I started, after a drunken night listening to Blood on the Tracks all evening in the summer between my freshman and sophomore years. Our dog, Never (yes, that was his name...we're weird people thankfully), had died recently and I was kinda blue. The next morning, hungover as hell, I went out and bought a guitar and eventually learned how to play a bit, though not really well.
I don't really remember all these songs that well and have actually forgotten the chords to many of them. But they are songs, not poetry, full with chords and choruses, and guitar leads and dreamed-of instrumentals. Some I wrote when I was still in my teens, but most were written in my early twenties when I just finding that the need to express myself began to effect my thoughts.
"Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." B. Dylan, My Back Pages
PAINFUL REMINDERS PRODIGAL SON PISTONS, COGS AND VALVES
BLISSFUL FOOLS TAYLOR MADE COME TO ME
SWEETPEA YOUR GOODBYE CALDWELL N.J.
MAYBE I'LL FIND YOU THERE MY REUNION ACE OF SPADES
AM I THE MAN? RADIOMAN EASE MY MIND
JOHANNA GOODBYE OUR ANNIVERSARY KING OF THE WORLD
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT I DON'T THINK SO (I NEVER DID) TELL ME MAMA
